The games just keep getting bigger and bigger...tension is growing in the office as we approach kick off for the big one in Bloemfontein. The Getty crew remain optimistic of an England victory with the predictions ranging between a scrappy 1-0, a Munich emulating 5-1 and even a 3 Lions victory on penalties!

Just to get into the spirit I have a suitably patriotic desktop on my computer...

You can also view our lovely apartment block (with our Brazilian neighbours).

D-day for England...

...will Rooney stop moaning about the fans, will Terry stop moaning about the team, will I stop moaning about not leading the office predictions competition?

France, are already on their way to OR Tambo airport, with Germany, Australia and England potentially joining them in the departure lounge...fingers crossed that Wayne, Stevie and Lamps 'step up' this afternoon and lead us to that all important victory.

On a totally seperate note, I have uploaded some totally irrelevant pictures for your enjoyment!
This includes a selection of newspaper/magazine usage from around the globe plastered onto the office wall..

Apologies for being a bit slack with my posts, but the last few days have hardly been exciting, with highlights being the IBC barbecue, Danish fans p*ssing by the roadside, Brazil v Ivory Coast on the TV and Wii bowling!!! Oh and the explosion which rocked the media centre! Apparently a mine 7km away let of some charges which sounded like a bomb going off, so you can imagine our fears being so close to the stadium on a match day! Thankfully it was a lot of fuss over nothing!

Argentina v South Korea at Soccer City

With they everyday drag of the office, we try and make the most of the time spent indoors with office sweepstakes, predictions and 'Ronaldinho impressions'...

Happy snappers...

The joy of the daily 2 hour round trip to the office...

The weather has slowly been growing colder, with temperatures just about freezing when we leave the IBC at midnight...even during the day it's hat and coat weather despite the glorious sunshine.

13 June - A truly lacklustre England display last night, just as we get our hopes up, the usual England goalkeeping jinx strikes again...enjoyed the outdoor braai at the IBC, I chose not to sample the impala stew -maybe another day!

Saturday, 12 June 2010

12 June - It's England's turn to take to centre stage following the pretty dour displays from France, Uruguay, Greece et al. Predictions in the office favour an England victory, with our American compatriots hoping for a draw at best! Go Rooney go!

The day has finally arrived...

...the kick off is now a matter of hours away, so the editing team took the opportunity to enjoy the fantastically lit Soccer City Stadium on the eve of the first match.

Bafana Bafana parade

June 8 - Gem and I manage to blag our way into Soccer City Stadium to check out the venue for the opening match and the final. As you saw from the photos I couldn't rssit getting too 'arty'!

June 9 - 50,000 Bafana Bafana fans take to the streets of Sandton to support the national team. Cars were abandoned, people were dancing in the streets, blowing the infamous vuvuzelas and generally having a great time.

Getting artistic at Soccer City

June 6: Got my first glimpse of the Soccer City Stadium (if a somewhat distant one), whilst picking up my accreditation and viewing our expansive office space.

June 7: Not a good day! Woke up with stomach pains, I then proceeded to lose half my body weight through puking and sh*tting (apologies for the colourful language). So spent most of the day in bed, whilst it was glorious sunshine outside! I finally managed to raise my caracase out of bed at around 6pm!

Sunsets over Johannesburg

As you may know I'm a sucker for a great sunset, so here are a couple as viewed from our accommodation at Sandhurst Towers.
