Flying the flag for 2 shadowy characters

Constitution Hill...part 2

Constitution Hill...part 1

For our day off on the 8th, we took a tour to Constitution Hill, which is home to the former prison (which housed both Nelson & Winnie Mandela, as well as Mahatma Gandhi), court house and fort. This was further insight to South Africa's turbulent and often brutal past.

The complex is located in the notorious neighbourhood of 'Hillbrow' one of the most dangerous places in South Africa...

Safari, safari...part 2

...and no safari is complete with an outdoor dinner and a bongos lesson!

Safari, safari...part 1

The Getty crew's day out to the Pilanesberg Game Reserve...an amazing experience.

Giraffes, zebras, elephants, warthogs, wildebeest, hippos, rhinos, various birds and last but not least 5 lions!!!!
The 'good' photos will follow, my 'weak efforts' can be seen in these posts :-(

Soweto part 2

Soweto part 1

Known as the 'city within a city' and probably the World's most famous township, Soweto covers a larger land area than Cardiff and his home for 3 million Johannesburgers. An informative (largely down to our excellent guide PJ), insightful and eye opening day.

From the new wealth, the homes of Winnie Mandela and Desmond Tutu, the street side barbershops, stalls, shopping malls and the 100s of churches, temples and places of worship, this was a fantastic experience.

And now for some more randomness...

..the obligatory sunset (from the top of our apartment building), me posing on 'some steps', a visit to the Sony 3D presentation, a wee bit of vuvuzela action and not sure what is on my mind in the last picture!
